Passage / Navigations

In variable editions 'Passage' and 'Navigations', I sought to develop my knowledge of the viscosity printmaking process, where three inks of different colours and consistencies simultaneously repel and attract. There is such a sense of alchemy in this process, where a hidden performance takes place between the paper and plate - between surface and substrate - the results of which are revealed once I lift the paper to unearth the joyous and always-surprising aftermath. In the making of the plates from which these prints were taken, I played with imaginary spaces, anchored by 'real-life' fragments of architecture in my hometown of London, particularly from my local neighbourhoods — at the time — of Bow, Mile End, and Limehouse.
