Liquid Colour
This edition is based on my experience of the striking and immersive phenomenon of reflected colours dancing on the Limehouse Cut where it flows beneath the Commerical Road. I was drawn to painted shapes on the ceiling of the canal tunnel which were recreated upon the water's surface amidst the chaos and haze of this colourful performance. They appeared as a set of double doors which seemed to offer the possibility of escape via an entrance to an underwater world, opening a parallel between the world around us and a personal, imaginary realm. Throughout the pandemic, this notion of escapism has manifested in my practice through the use of abstraction to process how I perceive the world and the spaces I inhabit within it.
