Festival of Print
An exhibition I co-curated and participated in, as an artist-member of East London Printmakers, from 25th November to 5th December 2021. 'Festival of Print' included work from ninety artist-members of ELP, and a further ten artists from Action Space. It took place at the Art Pavilion in Mile End Park. East London Printmakers is a not-for-profit, artist-run studio based in Mile End, and the home of a community of artist-printmakers who organise events such as the 'Festival of Print' each year. As part of a team of artists coordinating the show, Rebecca Holmes, Robert Dumas and I collaborated to organise the curation and installation of this exhibition. We were kindly supported by various sponsors, including Cadisch Screen Printing, Five Points Brewing Company, G. F. Smith Papers, Great Art, Happenstance Art & Framing, Hawthorn Printmaker Supplies, Intaglio Printmaker, London Centre for Book Arts, Paupers Press, Printmakers Council, and Printmaking Today, many of whom awarded prizes to selected exhibiting artists on the evening of the private view, presented by our guest speaker, Oona Grimes. I was lucky enough to be awarded the Printmakers Council Prize for my print on show, 'Extracts I' (2021), pictured below, a monoprint from an etched aluminium plate with collagraph, printed on 300gsm Somerset Satin White, measuring 75cm x 68cm.
