A series of monoprints and soft-ground etchings, playfully entitled 'POP!', which emanated from my exploration of the immediacy, immensity and temporality of specific performative actions. The monoprints in this series capture the action of a balloon popping under pressure by documenting the residue of this explosive activity and the breath contained within each inflated form.
With the experimental etchings, the plates were created by the balloon popping as it went through the press and leaving an impression in the soft ground which was later etched into the metal with acid. This enabled me to subvert the instantaneity of each explosion by reproducing and layering the prints which culminated from this enquiry.
